Your Body Language Speaks Volumes

Our own physical body possesses a wisdom which we who inhabit the body lack. ~ Henry Miller

Your mom probably always said sit up straight! Pay attention! Most likely she was telling you this so she could look like she had a ‘good daughter’. But the fact of the matter is your body posture allows you to be seen and known before you even open your mouth.

Go ahead and hunch forward and contract your body right now. Slouch your shoulders down and dip your chin to your chest. How do you feel? How do you think you look to other people if they could see you? My guess is you probably feel a lack of confidence. Or you feel small and not worthy of being seen. Or you are beginning to feel irritated, possibly even angry.

Now, go ahead and sit up with your head tall, spine straight, shoulders back and chin parallel to the floor. How do you feel now? My guess is you feel open and confident. Or you feel like you can take up space in the world. Or you are beginning to feel joyful, possibly even enthusiastic.

When you practice good body posture you allow more energy to run through your physical body. This translates into more of your mojo clearly moving through you to produce a happier, healthier you. posture

Think about it this way, as if you’re trying to get water through a garden hose. If it’s twisted or kinked up you’re not going to get water through, but when you straighten the hose out, now we’ve got some flow. Same thing with your body. So pay attention to your posture. Most especially as you go about your day sitting in front of the computer. I notice myself hunching when I sit at the desk and need to remind myself to shift the body every so often. Even though you might not be in front of someone—you’re alone at your desk—you’re still communicating (remember Vibrations of Thought).  When you send emails, post on social media, etc. you are transmitting energy. So pay attention to your body posture, it allows you to access more of your confidence and mojo.

MOJO EXERCISE:

This is a simple exercise you can do throughout the day anytime or anywhere. I recommend putting a reminder on your phone or calendar at random times to do the exercise. This way, you’ll catch yourself in the old habit and become conscious of transforming it.

Imagine there’s a golden thread running through the center of your body and extending outwards from your perineum (between your anus and vagina) and your crown (at the top of your head). Get a feeling or sense of the golden glow emanating from this thread. Once you get in touch with that, imagine the tail end of the thread from your perineum is dropping down into the earth and stabilizing your energy. Then, imagine that the top end of the thread is gently being pulled upwards. As this happens, feel your spine straighten. Connect with the power and energy moving through you. Notice your chin tilt slightly forward and your shoulders squaring straight. Once you are in your aligned mojo posture, take three deep belly breaths. With each inhale remind yourself that this is your new normal. With each exhale, release anything old or stale that’s no longer serving your highest good.

Sound good mojolicious one? Share your thoughts with me in the comments below.

Big love,
