How to Transform Overwhelm

Today I’m here to talk about transforming overwhelm.

Things here at Sensuality Central have been on overdrive! There’s a lot happening—video shoots, new products being developed and made, event planning and of course there’s my true joy – working with my ladies, the clients that I have the pleasure of helping step into their most powerful selves.

However, with all this going on it’s been a little…well, overwhelming. And I hear it from you too. So much stuff going on that it begins to feel paralyzing. This week I want to share with you three tips to turn overwhelm into oh, yes!

#1 – Get Out.
Seriously. Get the hell out of your house or office. Take a walk around the block, go for a jog, get an ice cream, buy fresh flowers, put your feet in the ocean, hug a tree or whatever tickles your fancy. Getting sucked into the abyss of overwhelm only makes it worse.

Despite the fact that stepping away from it all feels counterintuitive, it’s one of the best things you can do. It gives you space, resets your brain and gives your nervous system a rest. All necessary parts to saying OH, YES! And accessing more mojo.

#2 – Brain Dump.
When the overwhelm sets in it’s hard to see straight, let alone think straight. So go ahead and take a piece of paper (or create a new document on the computer) and write down ALL the tasks, errands and things that need to be accomplished this week. Don’t edit. Simply dump. Put personal and professional items on the list. Last week on mine between the ‘hire a transcriptionist and ‘create event page’ was ‘bake black bottom cupcakes.’

Once you have the list, prioritize. What needs immediate attention? Maybe you highlight those or use a special color or put a star next to them so they jump off the page. Then look at the rest and number them in order of importance. Seeing it all in one place (outside the confines of your brain) gives you more freedom to complete the tasks without scrambling to remember what the heck you needed in the first place. Hello more mindset mojo!

#3 – Shout Out.
This one is all about asking for help and delegating. There’s no way you can do it all (trust me, I’ve tried and it’s not recommended).

Look at your list and see which tasks or errands you can pass off. This alleviates you from the overwhelm of the entire list and reminds you that you’re not alone.

Sometimes it’s not about having someone else DO something for you. It could be as simple as asking someone to brainstorm or talk something out. This will give you new perspective and clarity to do what you need to do with a lot more ease (that’s how I came to create this video for you—I asked my honey to bounce ideas with me).

Remember—overwhelm is merely an energetic traffic jam and YOU have the power to smooth it out.

So m’dear, what’s currently overwhelming you and what tip will you implement this week to kick it in its rear?
